About the programme

Do you work in the public or voluntary sector in Wales?

Would you like to develop your leadership and personal skills  by going to sub-Saharan Africa and assisting organisations that are tackling poverty?

Mbale, Uganda

The International Learning Opportunities (ILO) programme is funded by the Welsh Government’s Wales for Africa programme.  This programme supports people and organisations in Wales that contribute to the UN Millennium Development Goals to halve extreme global poverty by 2015.

The ILO programme has been running since 2007, and has given over 100 participants a unique personal and professional experience in Africa.

The programme is managed by Academi Wales and ‘Bridges and Links 2 Africa’.

Academi Wales (part of the Welsh Government) is a national centre for leadership excellence to support the delivery of efficient and effective public sector services in Wales.

‘Bridges and Links 2 Africa’ is a consortium formed by two Welsh charities: Dolen Cymru – Wales Lesotho Link and PONT.
