Costs

ILO placements are funded by the Welsh Government’s Wales for Africa programme. ┬áThe opportunity to undertake a placement should be agreed as part of your continuing professional development, so we would expect your organisation to continue to pay your salary in the normal way. ┬áThe ILO programme does not cover salary costs.

 

Costs covered by the programme are:

  • Pre-departure training and briefing
  • Any necessary vaccinations and anti-malarials
  • International travel (return flights to Africa) including Visa costs
  • Comprehensive health/emergency travel insurance
  • First Aid kit and any other basic safety equipment deemed necessary
  • Work related travel in-country while in Africa
  • Placement related accommodation while in Africa

Costs NOT covered by the programme are:

  • Salary costs for the time you are in Africa
  • Any costs associated with your home life and personal circumstances e.g. childcare,mortgage payments etc
  • Costs associated with travel to the assessment day, interviews or pre-departure training
  • Costs associated with travel to airports in the UK
  • Food and other subsistence while in Africa
  • Any costs associated with recreational/tourist activities that you choose to do while in Africa
